Vintage Thing a Majigs? Is that really a word?

Saturday I left the house not really in the mood for the HUNT.  I just did not think it would be worth the effort,  boy was I wrong!  You just never know what and who will come across your path.  I saw some fellow junkers out having fun,  and I met a wonderfully sweet vintage lady who had the most amazing items!  Just meeting her was worth the trip,  so much to share,  she had lived all over,  and had inherited an old mansion full of antiques....wow!  could this ever happen to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?   I can only imagine what fun that would be,  to go through an entire estate of vintage thing a majigs:)!!
 I have to say,  I really think this may be my best find yet!!!
These canisters are in pristine shape and the color is a gorgeous aqua.  They are going to definitely add class to someones Vintage kitchen:)! SOLD

Monday's Message (note from my sweet hubby)

                                                                  On Father's Day                        

Since yesterday was Father's day why not talk about a father found in the Bible. You know God paints every one just as they are, warts and all. One of the most well known of Bible characters is the sweet psalmist of Israel, David.
David had been a shepard growing up and lived in the obscure pastures and hills around his father's farm. He had a heart for God and eventually fought and killed the famed Philistine, the giant Goliath. Later he married several wives and became the king of Israel.
King David had many children. One of them, Absalom, was one of the beautiful. Here was a young man who seemingly had it all. He was the son of the King of Israel (not a bad start),he was intelligent, crafty and persuasive. On top of all this he had an absent father.His father David was a very busy man and had his own personal problems. There was a vast kingdom which demanded his attention and moral failures that dogged his every step, and Israel's enemies were causing constant conflict.
But what David could not see, was a boy, who was growing into a man that needed him desperately. Every boy longs to have his father's attention, his approval and his affection. Just to be at daddy's side for a while each day, to be noticed, to be valued and recognised can make a world of difference for a boy. He must have wondered when his father would make time for him.
As the days grew into years so the young man's rebellion grew. He got to where he did not want his father's advice or even his company. When the time came, he killed his own brother and led a revolt against the kingdom. His life came to an end when his long beautiful hair was caught in a tree and he was slain by David's army commander.
Dad, the bottom line is this, your children need you. God has given each dad beautiful children for whom he is accountable. For you there is no replacement, no substitute. There is simply no one else in the universe who can do the job God has given you to do. Now Dad what are you going to do?

O Glorious Day!!!

Yesterday I was sick in bed ALL day! Mavis was the perfect nurse bringing me cold cloths for my head,  put my hair in a pony tail,  brought me cold water and fixed lunch for Henry and herself.  Henry stayed home from the nursing home ministry to keep me company:).
   Days like that just make you so much more appreciative of glorious days of good health!!   I am one thankful woman.
  Today we are off and running to have a full day of fun!  Splash park at Faulkner with friends and grand pirates,  picnic lunch,  maybe a ride on Rose Rudman trails,  swimming.......

Things of the past....

 Just a reminder of a few items still available.....

I came across such a fun blog yesterday http://thethriftychicks.blogspot.com/,  maybe you already know about them.  These ladies know how to shop!  I became so excited to see what they had found at the Goodwill that I shut things down here,  called J and said meet me at the Goodwill,  I am leaving asap!!!  She beat me there:).  We told the pirates and grand pirates we were going treasure hunting to put them in the mood and promised "Andy's" or "Starbucks" if they would be good sports about it all.  Well she found a couple of cute things right away....I stayed about an hour and a half and came out with dear hubby 3 shirts:(.  Not one piece for me,  where are all the Anthropologie dresses like they found and all the adorable shoes?  The shoes I saw looked like they had walked their last mile!  Oh well,  you just never know when you go out junking. 
   The caramel frappe was delicious , Mavis had her lemon iced loaf , and  Henry had his regular, a "mocha" as he calls it,  they call it chocolate milk in a box :).

Monday's Message

      We are going to do something different on Mondays,  my husband will be posting a message.  This one is sure dear to my heart:).  

                                                                     Little Guys

You know who they are. Or maybe you don't. It might be that you just don't notice them. But they are there, just the same.
Just the other day I was at church and I saw a boy standing all by himself after the service had ended. Other children were playing with one another, talking and just being kids. Now you need to understand that no one was intending to exclude him but it happened just the same. 
Last August I retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Over the years I became acquainted with a man who worked at the department auto shop in Austin. His name was Bill. He was small in stature. I don't mean just short, I mean very short. Maybe four foot something.
When meeting him it was obvious he had problems. He seemed shocked when I would greet him by name. As if that did not happen too often. His attitude was sour and his nature was distrusting. In short, Bill had been run over in life. The butt of the joke, the last one picked(if picked at all), his life was a wreck. All of this had taken its toll on one that had been made in the image of God.
Maybe if when he was young someone had taken time to befriend him instead of taking advantage Bill may have been different. A long term investment is what he was.
Jesus said, "Permit the little children to come to me for of such is the kingdom of God." He also said if anyone offended the little ones that believe in Him it would be better to have a millstone tied around his neck to be thrown into the sea.
These are pretty strong words from the God of the universe. I for one think He means what He says. He intends that one day we will give an account of how we treat those who are most vulnerable.
These are just two of the ones I have come across. And if I have encountered these you have some as well. The question for you and I is what will we do with these tremendous opportunities?
Each person we meet will have their own set of problems and heartaches. They, like you and I have a past. Some of it is their own fault, some of it not. Some of it is the fault of others and yes, some of it, like the blind man healed by Jesus is not the fault of anyone at all but will be used for the glory of God.
Our responsibility is not as a judge. We are to see them as God sees them. Someone made in His image, worth befriending, worth the investment, worth dying for.

I Am Stuck on You!

I have a weakness for Vintage Brooches,  you could say I am stuck on them.  I found some fab ones this weekend to add to my collection...

I have fond memories of seeing some like these on my granny  "Hattie"  Sunday mornings at church:).  Now I wear them,  all the time!

This is a necklace I found at an estate sale a while back that I added a wonderful clip on earring to,  love this!!!
